Contributors to What's the Word?

Judith Irwin
Ms. Irwin earned a B.F.A. in 1976 and an M.F.A. in 1981 from the University of Hawaii, her home for 17 years. She formerly taught art at Greenhill School in Dallas (grades 5-12). Ms. Irwin was in Who's Who of American Teachers in 1992. She is co-developer and artistic director for What's the Word?

Fran Hillyer
Ms. Hillyer has nearly 20 years of experience teaching English and is a candidate for a doctoral degree in humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas. She has received the prestigious Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers.

Walker Schupp
Mr. Schupp is president of Red Hot Media and produces videos and musical compositions for the corporate and broadcast market. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.F.A. in Broadcast/Film from Southern Methodist University. His awards include an Emmy nomination for music composition and an international Monitor nomination for editing.

Stephen Goodrick
Mr. Goodrick is president of Goody Productions, Inc. and managing partner of Lil' Kiddo Production, L.P. which produces children's programming. His awards include three Emmy nominations and a Valley Forge Honor Certificate in recognigiton of outstanding contribution in the category of electronic communications.

Alberto Chacon
Mr. Chacon, a graduate of the Art Institute of Dallas and president of Chacon Graphics, has received many awards, including the 1993 Gold Medal from the Dallas Society of Illustrators.

Michael Simborg
Mr. Simborg, part of GROMBiS CREATiVE WORKS, is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in Communication Theory and Fine Arts. Mr. Simborg is currently pursuing a masters degree in design from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Hyla Swesnik
Ms. Swesnik, a veteran high school teacher and tutor, is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The University of Texas and holds a master's degree from Southern Methodist University. Ms. Swesnik is co-developer of What's the Word?.

Judith Feld
Ms. Feld, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Douglass College of Rutgers University with graduate degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and Operations Research, is a business coach.

Josh Kimmell
Mr. Kimmell is a Design graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He has continued his design process by working with internet technologies groups in Alabama. Josh is now Senior Designer of a high-speed multimedia service called BroadbandNow! (www.bbnow.com).
